Before your consultation
- You may call the clinic
to briefly discuss your condition before booking an appointment.
- Please bring a list of any
prescription medicine and any relevant x-ray, MRI, etc images and reports
- You may bring chaperone
if you feel you require one
- Children up to Age 17 must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
- Carer must have the authority to consent to treatment on behalf of younger children or vulnerable
adults.
During your appointment
- In most
cases you will be asked to undress down to your underwear for the examination at your first consultation.
- On your follow up consultations you will be asked to remove necessary clothing so that the areas to be treated may
be accessed without restriction.
- If you are uncomfortable about undressing for any reason, please
discuss this with the practitioner.
- A full medical case history is taken at the first consultation
- Your practitioner will seek verbal consent before carrying out any treatment or may request written consent
where appropriate.
- Please ask as many questions as you wish during the examination and treatment.
- You may ask the practitioner to stop and explain any aspect of examination and treatment that you feel uncomfortable
about
After Your Appointment
- Drink water
throughout the rest of the day.
- Rest if possible from aggravating activities.
- Comply with your exercise prescription and any other advice
- Make a note of any changes
you experience between appointments (good and bad).
- Apply an ice pack to an acute flare up
of symptoms if advised by the osteopath.
- Call the osteopath directly if worrying symptoms develop.
